High Court overturns listing of wildlife species with landrace breeds

Pretoria Precision Rifle Club (PPRC) Rocky Ridge Precision Rifle Match • What is PRS? Prior to 25 February, all I could tell you about precision rifle was that it is the acronym for Precision Rifle Series, but little else. Being invited to attend the Pretoria Precision Rifle Club shooting match out near Klipskuur, between Heidelberg, Gauteng and Vaal Marina on the Vaal Dam, was an eye opener into this exciting shooting world of science, measurement, verification and a bit of luck. Now at least I have attended a match and seen who some of the shooters are and the types of Courses of Fire.

Blaauwbok Shooting Range – Klapmuts • Any person entering the property market is told: “Location, Location, Location.” These words cannot be emphasised enough when it comes to constructing a new shooting range. The process of finding a suitable area with the potential to offer multiple shooting ranges while conforming to certain criteria is difficult. Local shooting ranges around Cape Town and its suburbs are under constant threat of encroachment from the massive developments that have sprung up over the past few years.

Send IT .22 LR ELR • On 11 March we hosted the sixth .22 LR ELR (Extreme Long Range) Send IT match at PEKS Shooting Range near Wellington, Western Cape with a full house of 36 adult and 12 junior (younger than 13) competitors. In 2020, Send IT developed and hosted the first .22LR ELR event in South Africa, and to our knowledge it is still the only rimfire ELR competition in the country.

Long Range Gong Shoot at Noodhulp Farm • What a challenging day 25 March turned out to be, the occasion of the 6.5 maximum calibre long-range gong shoot at Noodhulp Farm. Shooters had to contend with strong winds and thick mist as well as intermittent, drenching rain.

SAPRF PR22 National Match at Atlantis • They say that the lost city of Atlantis disappeared under the water and now lies at the bottom of the ocean. Well, on the Saturday before our national match on Sunday 25 March, the Atlantis Shooting Range lived up to its name as heavy downpour had it all but sinking away under the water. The Long-Range Precision (LRP) range is based on the grounds of the Western Cape Shooting Union (WCSU) in Atlantis.
