Gr 4-6-This series attempts to cover too many topics in too little space, leaving it feeling unfocused. For example, a single section describes both a French shipwreck in the Gulf of Mexico in 1686 and ancient shipwrecks in the Mediterranean. Using a large font, photos, reproductions, and a sometimes crowded format, each volume presents information on 10 subtopics. Along with the overwhelming content, there are also factual inconsistencies. In Lost, for example, an article on ball lightning sites an individual as the first to die from this phenomenon and then goes on to describe an earlier incident with four deaths in the next paragraph. Not enough information is presented on any of the topics to satisfy curiosity, nor is there enough material here to aid report writers.
