Grades 2-4 These additions to the Vehicles on the Move series are most likely to appeal to readers already interested in military technology. Peppas presents basic detailed information about aircraft carriers, fighter jets, military helicopters, and armored vehicles in a clear and straightforward manner. Each book begins with an explanation of the purpose and general characteristics of the relevant vehicle. Then Peppas dives into examples, providing specifics such as the various vehicles' top speed, weapons, crew, function, cost, and weight, among other details. Aircraft Carriers explores the different kinds of carriers, such as light-aircraft carriers, antisubmarine carriers, and helicopter carriers. In each book, large photos illustrate the different types of vehicles, sometimes with call outs to identify key parts. Many pages are dense with vocabulary terms, which are defined in a glossary at the end of the book.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2012, American Library Association.)
