The tale of Little Women is an all encompassing story about the life of an average family, who share happy and joyous moments, but also some unhappy and dark times together. Louisa May Alcott was an American novelist who was a feminist and a human rights activist. Alcott's poverty stricken life made it necessary for her to work at an early age as an occasional teacher, seamstress, governess, domestic helper, and writer. This is where she wrote her first book Flower Fables in 1849; her talent for writing was obvious from a young age. Louisa was surrounded by writers and educators when she was a girl, and received majority of her schooling from her father, who was a noted transcendentalist and educator. Louisa May Alcott most notable work is the novel Little Women, a story to be read by readers for decades to come.
