You asked for it; you got it!

IPMS/USA National Convention • If you want to see hundreds of great models covering all genres and scales, you can’t beat a trip to the national convention of the International Plastic Modelers Society/USA. The 2017 show at the La Vista Conference Center in suburban Omaha, Neb., was no exception. More than 2,500 entries crowded the tables in the Lots-of- Models Contest Room. FSM’s Mark Savage and Aaron Skinner took a ton of photos; here are a few of them.

Making waves • A half scratchbuilt 1/72 scale USS Tenacity gets tossed about

AMPS 2017

Junkers G 24, inside and out • Corrugated metal cranks up the “wow” factor

NorEastCon 46 • In May 2017, the IPMS/USA Region 1 chapter conducted its 46th annual show and contest, NorEastCon, in Batavia, N.Y. More than 500 contestants from Ohio to Maine and into Ontario, Canada, entered 700 models across a wide variety of genres. Photographer Neil Farukhi was on the scene, shooting dozens of models for FSM. Here are some of our favorites.

World War II BMW R75 • Metalworking makes an amazing scratchbuilt model

WonderFest USA 2017 • Each June, FSM travels to WonderFest in Louisville, Kentucky, for a colorful contest of sci-fi, horror, pop culture, and comic-related builds. It’s a show filled with imagination and head-turning models. Editors Aaron Skinner and Mark Savage stopped by and shot some photos. Next year’s show is scheduled for June 2-3, 2018.

Decked out with DECALS • An Airfix A35 van gets one dazzling finish, and then another

World Model Expo 2017 • Michigan Ave.’s landmark Hilton Chicago hosted the triennial World Model Expo in early July. The event drew the best figure painters and model builders from around the world, filling the spacious convention halls with scale creations ranging from the historic to the fantastic. Here is a small sampling of the works displayed. Thanks goes to the show’s organizers for providing FSM with the images.

Excitement on the USS Enterprise • Every inch (both scale and real) is loaded with crew and aircraft

EagleQuest 2017 • Dallas, Texas, in mid-June means three things — heat, humidity, and Squadron’s longrunning get-together and modeling contest known as EagleQuest. The event attracts hundreds of modelers for two days of seminars, shopping, and fun, centered around a peer-judged competition. FSM’s Aaron Skinner spent a little money in the warehouse, had a little fun, and snapped these photos.

Midwestern Model Ships & Boats Contest and Display 2017 • In Manitowoc, Wis., hard by the river of the same name where Gato-class submarines were built in World War II, the Wisconsin Maritime Museum plays host to the Midwestern Model Ships & Boats Contest and Display. Mark Hembree and Elizabeth Nash brought FineScale Modeler to the 41st annual show and did their best to capture the often-outsized ships and boats in photos. Here are just a few that actually fit in the frame!

Long Island Miniature Model Show 2016 • The 36th anniversary show of the Long Island Miniature Collectors Society brought together the best figure modelers, many from the New York area....
